Princess Catherine Doll Review
Every young girl dreams that when she is older that she will marry a handsome prince and become a princess! For one girl, Kate Middleton, that dream is about to become a reality, on Friday 28th April 2011 Kate Middleton will marry Prince William and she will become Princess Catherine.
To celebrate this historic occasion many companies have released merchandise and collectables celebrating the Royal wedding, but the standout piece for me has to be the Princess Catherine Doll.
The Princess Catherine Doll is a limited edition and will become a real collector’s item in the future and also for every doll sold one pound will be given to the ‘help the heroes’ charity.
I was lucky enough to be sent one of these limited edition dolls to review, I have also gone out and purchased my own copy on top of this as I really do feel that this doll overcome a true collectors item over the coming years. Already selling on eBay for almost double the RRP the Princess Catherine Doll offers a very close likeness to Kate Middleton and dressed in Kate’s classic British style.
When you receive the Princess Catherine doll the first thing you will notice is the stunning pink presentation box that it comes in, which also happens to feature the royal emblem on the front. The doll itself is approximately 30 cm in height or around 12 inches and is fully poseable should you wish to take this doll out of its box.
The doll comes with a number of different accessories including her famous engagement ring that was passed on to her from the late Princess Diana, the detail on the ring was exquisite and made a great touch to this collector’s doll. Other accessories that you will find include Kate Middleton’s famous navy blue silk dress that screams style icon, this dress was created exclusively for the dog by the designer pussy willow and is a replica to that famous blue dress by Issa that Kate wore when she and Prince William disclosed their engagement to the world.
Other accessories also included with this doll include shoes, clutch bag and fascinator which complete the look for this doll. It is the detail on these accessories that really does stand out from most dolls that you can buy in toy shops like Barbie etc. Eaton clutch bag by Aspinal of London and a pink fascinator by Katherine Elizabeth.
The quality of the Princess Catherine doll itself is first rate and has numerous points articulation, allowing you to pose this doll in a number of different ways. Even the quality of the hair is impressive and after 5 min of brushing it with a small Barbie brush I didn’t notice any fallout which can happen with cheaper dolls.
To conclude I would say that this doll really does have a fantastic likeness to Kate Middleton and it makes a fantastic collectors item for not only fans of the Royal family but also collectors of dolls the level of detail is second to none in the presentation makes this a real must buy.
Only 10,000 of these will be made, my advice would be to buy two if possible, I would pack one away and never open it, while the other can be played with or displayed as you wish, sometimes it really does seem ashame not to be able to enjoy what you have bought.
