4 Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 8th so you still have a few more days to pick up a gift for your Mom. Have no idea what to get her? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Here are a few ideas that will hopefully get you on your way to picking out a great gift for that special woman in your life, your mother.
1. Flowers – Flowers for Mother’s Day is pretty much a tradition, or at least that’s what the florists want you to think. Still, it’s a fairly nice gift if you put some thought into it. If you don’t know what kind of flowers your Mom likes, I probably wouldn’t take this route. It’s much more special to order her favorite flowers in a custom bouquet rather than a stock holiday one that the florist just churns out. Don’t forget a heartwarming card with some kind words for Mom to go along with it.
2. Homemade Gifts – Every mother loves something that their son or daughter makes for them, right? Maybe you’re an awesome artist or sculptor and can create something beautiful – do it! If you’re not an artist, there are still some different ideas to pursue like making homemade soap or candles, printing out and framing her favorite poem that includes a picture of the two of you, writing her a short story about what she means to you, or creating a menu and cooking her all of her favorite foods. The possibilities here really are endless. Something that comes straight from your heart is always the best.
3. Personalized Gifts – There are a ton of shopping websites that specialize in personalized gifts that will allow you to have an inscription on merchandise like mugs, picture frames, figurines, charm bracelets, pendants, tote bags, vases, t-shirts, journals, pillows, blankets, flower pots, paper weights, flip flops, robes, slippers, water bottles…and yes, I can keep going. Personalized gift websites are the mecca of all things personalizable (ok, that’s not a word but you get my point). Does your Mom love to workout? Get the water bottle. Does she have a green thumb? Flower pot or vase. Does she love to write? Get the journal. These gifts can be a really nice way to show her how much you love her.
4. If all else fails: Gift Card – I know I am going to get a lot of flack about this, but I get my Mom a gift card for Mother’s Day and she loves it. See, my mom is a die hard scrapbooking fiend (we are from two different worlds, given my love of all things internet marketing for my and credit card processing companies and distaste for all things arts & crafts). She loves shopping for scrabooking supplies and since I don’t know exactly what she needs, I get her a gift certificate to her favorite scrapbooking store. Then she can buy tools, paper, stamps, stickers, whatever her heart desires in order to feed her scrap addiction. I know she loves it and I love getting it for her, so I really don’t think I could get her a better gift than that!
