Visiting New Zealand in 2 weeks
If you want to experience the picturesque landscape of New Zealand, then visit the south island of NZ which has many places to visit with postcard views.
Your New Zealand flight lands in beautiful Christchurch, after a quick stop in Auckland, where you pick up your rental car and make your way to the Elms Hotel, for your first two night’s accommodation. From Christchurch the first point of destination will be Queenstown, which is a very popular New Zealand tourist destination.
Queenstown is the adventure capital of New Zealand. Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown is overlooked by The Remarkable and is the gateway to the breathtaking fiords of Milford Sound. You can stay a few nights at the Garden Court
Enjoy some spectacular West Coast scenery on your way to Greymouth. The Fox Glacier township is located close to its glacier and, uniquely, approximately the same distance from the pounding surf of the Tasman Sea. For accommodation whilst visiting the Fox Glacier town, you can stay at the Fox Glacier Hotel.
From Fox Glacier, drive to Greymouth, the point at which Abel Tasman first spotted land in 1642, where you can check-in your rental car before boarding the TranzAlpine train. This world-famous scenic train ride takes you through lush beech forests, over the Southern Alps and across spectacular gorges back to Christchurch, where you can spend another night at the Elms Hotel.
Make your way from your hotel to the airport where we will fly you to the central North Island thermal region where you will spend two nights in Rotorua at the Princes Gate. After arriving at the Rotorua airport you will check-out another rental car for the rest of your self-drive trip.
The next day’s drive takes you north to Auckland, the “City of Sails”, where you can stay one night at the Duxton Hotel. This hotel is just a few minute’s walk from central Auckland, a charming and very walkable city.
On the following day your northward travel continues to Paihia in the Bay of Islands, usually a 3-4 hour drive from Auckland. Here in this aquatic wonderland you can stay a few nights at Park Lodge on Paihia.
On your last day you can drive back to Auckland where you will return your rental car before boarding your Qantas flight back home. We suggest you allow plenty of time to browse the numerous duty-free shops in Auckland’s delightful airport. We always bring back lots of the famous New Zealand butter.
Did you know you can save money on NZ accommodation by dealing directly with the New Zealand accommodation providers.
