When renovating your home things you might choose to add include a new kitchen, an upgraded bathroom and ensuite as well as simple additions like security doors and screens.
When renovating your home there are plenty of options for you for things you can add to your home. Whether you want to create more space, add on an extra room, upgrade your bathroom or kitchen or make more simple additions like adding security doors or even security screens to your windows. Renovating your home will increase the value of your property as well as turning it into your dream home.
Kitchen
A new kitchen can completely change your whole home. The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the house and one where your whole family will spend a lot of their time, often using it as the hub of the home. It is always warmer in winter and many a conversation takes place around the kitchen bench. If you are thinking of updating your kitchen think about creating a space that is both functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. Having lots of cupboard space is useful, as well as plenty of nooks for storing larger platters, jugs and things like cookbooks.
Bathroom
Many old houses are subjected to having bathrooms that are too small and poky for a whole family, so bathroom renovations are not uncommon. If your budget extends that far you might want to think about adding an ensuite while you are at it. New homes will automatically have water saving shower heads installed and even toilets that use less water per flush. When you put a new bathroom in an older home these are things you should consider.
Security
Making your home more secure is a wise decision. Making sure you have the right locks on your doors and windows is a good start. Walk around your home and see where any possible intruders could get in and work to resolve the problem. Having plenty of outdoor lighting will act as a deterrent and as well as installing a security alarm. Steel security doors will not only make your front and rear entrance more secure but will mean that you can leave your doors open during warm weather to let the breeze through. You can also safely answer the door without having to unlock the security door.
Paint
A fresh coat of paint will make an enormous difference to both the inside of your home and your exterior if you have weather boards. There are hundreds of fantastic shades of paint available and painting is where you can really let your imagination run wild. Lighter colours will make a room seem larger and brighten up a room, and warm dark colours will give you a sense of cosy winters by the fire. Paint one wall as a feature or pick out cornices and ceiling roses with highlights of colour.
Outdoors
Don’t let your outdoors go unnoticed and renovate by adding a veranda or gazebo in the garden. Have a paved area or a timber decking as your entertainment area and look to putting in an outdoor kitchen if you often entertain. With the long hot summers you will appreciate adding a pool or spa, and if you budget will allow, a pool house can include a shower and bathroom, which will save people walking through your home when they are wet.
